Thanksgiving is Around the Corner!
I honestly don't know where time is going. Unbelievable! I hope you are all planning on coming to the book fair and chili supper tomorrow night. I'll be there working at the checkout, so stop by and say hi! And since time keeps slipping by, I have gone ahead and put the blog into full holiday mode. I hope you enjoy some of my favorite songs for the season, and please take part in the poll to the left.
We have started our first coached project this week. Students are writing to people in our community to learn about their jobs. We are writing all sorts of people! When the people (hopefully) write us back with their answers, we are going to tape an interview talk-show to share the information we learn! As that time approaches, I will let you know more!
I just received a gift card for dinner at Outback Steak House because of how hard you all worked for the school fundraiser. That doesn't really seem fair, does it? I wish I could take you guys out to eat with it, but then you wouldn't have much fun, would you?
And for those of you who accidentally lose the daily math assignments every week, I have posted the assignment sheet on the class wiki page. The link to that page is along the right side of this blog. Once at the wiki page, look along the left side for the "Daily Math Assignment" link. I hope that helps. I meant to put all of our work on that site, but forgot I had that capability! Go figure!
Well, as Thanksgiving is about two weeks away, take a moment in the comments section to share what you are most thankful for this year. I would love to hear from students, former students, and parents!
Thanks and have a great week!

It's November!
I trust that everyone is busy enjoying their extra hours today. I relished mine so much, I was still almost late for church this morning! If anyone has pictures of themselves in costume from the weekend, send them to me and I will post them here on the blog!
As you hopefully know, students do not report to school on Tuesday because of the election. So many of our schools are polling precincts, it is a safety issue to have so many people coming and going while students are present. I trust that everyone will go out and vote (if you have not already taken advantage of early voting.) Students will have a homework assignment for Tuesday that will involve them following the election returns. That will go home along with a detailed explanation tomorrow.
We will begin a coached project this week at school. As a part of the Paideia philosophy, coached projects are completed almost entirely at school, so hopefully parents won't have to stress out about it. We are going to write letters to community workers to learn about the jobs they do and their importance to our communities. Later on the students will dress up as their community worker and present their information. Depending on technology difficulties, I hope to have these projects digitally recorded. We shall see!
Anyhow, have a great day--it's beautiful outside and the Titans just won!--and a wonderful week! Don't forget to send in those costume pictures!
