So sorry for not updating this in the last couple of weeks. It seems as if everything has been on fast forward and I fell so far behind! Little by little I am getting back on top of things--but don't expect too much!!
I am looking forward to meeting with you all on Monday. I am trying to get a sample of your child's work together along with the results of the reading assessment and ThinkLink to share with you. I know that some of you are a bit concerned about some of the work I sent home this week, and I will go over those on Monday if you would like. Remember that 3rd grade is a lot different than 2nd. I am doing my best to get the students ready for TCAP, 4th grade, and middle school. Believe it or not, there is a method to my madness. The students have to learn to be resourceful and think about what they are learning. Many of the children want to ask for help without making an independent effort. It will not be in their best interest for this to remain a habit. As they get older, the things they learn will get more difficult. We want them to have the tools necessary to figure things out when it does get tough. I do not give them things that we have not talked about or things that they cannot do, so a little struggling can be a good thing.
Yesterday was chaotic to say the least, and so our "How-To Carve the Perfect Jack-o-lantern" activity was put on hold until today. I think they did a good job teaching me how! You can see the results of their work when you come in on Monday! Be prepared to be scared!! ;-)
Only one more day this week! Have a good weekend and I'll see (most of ) you Monday!

Do not fear.. there is a method to Ms.K's madness. I can say with fairness that my fifth grader was aware of the expectations of middle school and responsibiblties because of the preparation of this Ms. K. With patience and diligent communication with my child our family all worked together to help them have a chance of surviving not only school but life's expectations too. Now everyone is not the same but as a parent you will see the difference and they will be better for it.
