Summer Reading Lists

Although I am sure that all of my students plan on participating in the school sponsored summer reading program, I didn't know if anyone would be interested in a specific list of books. I can provide this if there is interest. Let me know what you think.

I am interested, it will help us stay on track with appropriate reading for next year. I have a suggestion, we just read The Breadwinner last week and thought it was great. The chapters make you want to continue, but we read a chapter every night to build interest. THe boys learned alot about how life is in Afghanistan for children. Without giving too much away we all learned alot about how the people live there or should I say survivie. It has one or two graphic scenes about how Taliban punishment is carried out, but not nightmarish. Just a suggestion to check it out. Also, Kira Kira was very good.

A list would be great, however I think assigning a selected few would be good also. That way they would all have read the same books over the summer and have something to write or talk about with each other when they return in the fall.

We would love a reading list and I think it would be encouraging to have a few assigned selections as well.
